This
show is sponsored by the Faith and Art Forum. The purpose
of the show is to explore the relationship between the way
an artist creates and the way he relates to his creator.
In addition to the gallery presentation, there will be a
Forum discussion in which the artists will be given a chance
to discuss their work, their faith and to answer questions
from the audience.
Our
hope is to open a dialogue about the creative processes
and the difficulties and conflicts that arise in a world
plagued by suffering. We hope that those who love visual
art will benefit from such a straight forward discussion
of the methods and processes of art making.
We
are currently accepting proposals in any medium. In addition
to images, we are also requesting a brief but thorough statement
discussing the relationship of your work and your faith.
We will proceed to an interview process, as artists are
selected both on the quality of their work, and their ability
to communicate their process. It is open to any faith (or
lack there of). You may either submit in person, or contact
us at entries@falloutminneapolis.com
We
have set up a May 7 deadline on submissions, which may be
extended given the circumstances. We encourage anyone to
apply, even if it is after the deadline (the worst we can
do is say no). We would also like to emphasize that you
will be committing to attend a forum discussion on the evening
of May 26. We also encourage you to be on hand at the opening,
but because of the forum, we are not requiring it.
About
the Faith and Art Forum:
We are a discussion group that meets bimonthly to discuss
issues that pertain to being artists of faith including:
Icons, ethics, social repsonsibility and the use of art
in worship.
